7 staycation locations for a late summer getaway

Exotic holidays may be off the cards but the UK has some perfect destinations for a 2020 summer holiday to satisfy your holiday blues. While some flights have started taking off, and Ibiza is still on some people’s summer 2020 bucket list, there is still a lot of apprehension surrounding holidays abroad and a lot of us will opt for a late summer staycation here in the UK.

With some promising weather recently, more than ever the UK has some amazing places for you to visit and have a great holiday. To help plan ahead and pick your perfect staycation, here is a list of places that will satisfy your holiday cravings.

CORNWALL

With picturesque beaches and surfing opportunities, Cornwall is the perfect staycation destination. While you might not be in the Caribbean, St. Ives, Newquay or Penzance will offer enough cosy restaurants, amazing beaches and Cornish pasties to help you have the perfect holiday in the UK.

THE LAKE DISTRICT

The Lake District offers the most idyllic holiday spot for anyone wanting some peace and quiet. Famous for its lakes (of course), forests, and general scenic views, visiting the Lake District will most definitely give the holiday fix you are after. Visit the highest mountain in England by day and enjoy the beautiful sunsets by night to get the most out of the scenery during your stay.

BRIGHTON

Opt for Brighton to enjoy a traditional brit holiday; enjoy a dip in the cold sea, fish and chips, and a pier filled with fun. You can also enjoy the cobbled back streets, Royal Pavilion, and i360 Viewing Point to get the full Brighton experience. So no matter what you are interested in, there is something to offer for the whole family.

ISLE OF WIGHT

Well known as Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday spot, the Isle of Wight is only a three-hour drive from South London and is perfect for a long weekend away. The beaches will provide you with some beautiful scenery and will hopefully satisfy your need for a trip to the seaside. Take your time wandering along the coastal footpaths and enjoy the spectacular views from the cliff tops.

NEW FOREST

If walking, cycling and the great outdoors is your thing, then head to the New Forest for your summer staycation. Pack your walking boots, bikes, and helmets in the car and set off for an active getaway. Walking amongst rare plants, trees and birds will certainly beat the daily walk around your hometown that you’ve been doing these past few months.

YORK

Why not head up North and enjoy this medieval city filled with history on every corner? Home to the York Minster Cathedral, The Shambles, and narrow lanes with pretty shops and cafes, York is one of the prettiest places to visit this summer.

THE COTSWOLD

With the traditional story-book village look and feel, the Cotswolds is the ideal spot for slowing down for a few days and having some well-deserved fresh air away from home. Filled with chocolate-box cottages, cobbled streets and countryside at every angle, you will discover the true heart of England.
