Halloween is almost upon us, and there has never been a better time to watch a horror film. But who wants to go outside into the cold and to various parties? Don’t worry, Netflix has a fine selection of horror films to make sure that you don’t have to leave your sofa. Here are just a few films you don’t want to miss this Halloween:
The Cube (1997)
Before Saw (2004), there was The Cube. The film follows a six individuals as they must try to escape a deadly and endless maze. These six people are trapped inside a cube with various traps trying to kill them. They must band together to use their own skills to figure out a way out and why they have been trapped inside.
It is a claustrophobic film but incredibly fascinating. The film is all about paranoia and the desperation it leads to. If this is your thing, then The Cube is for you.
Orphan (2009)
Orphan follows a couple who recently lost their unborn child and decide to adopt a nine-year-old girl. The unsuspecting couple are tricked by this ‘girl’ as it is revealed that she is not what she seems.
It is truly shocking and it will definitely leave a huge impact. It’s a dark and twisted film with some incredible performances.
Creep (2014)
This film follows a videographer who answers an ad online for a one-day job. His job includes documenting the last messages of a dying man. When he gets to his job, he soon learns that his client has some odd behaviour and begins to question his motives.
It is shot in a ‘found footage’ style and surprisingly works for this film. It feels original and fresh. The awkward close-ups highlight the creepiness of his client.
Final Destination 5 (2011)
Don’t worry if you haven’t seen any of the previous films as no previous knowledge is needed. The premise of the film is simple. A group of students cheat death due to a premonition by one of them. However, death decides to come for them and they begin to mysteriously die one-by-one.
This is a fun film with some insanely gruesome moments. If you have seen the previous films, then there is a nice little ‘easter egg’ at the end.
Clown (2014)
Can’t get enough of Clowns this year? This might be the film for you! A doting father finds a clown outfit in one of his properties and decides to wear it for his son’s birthday party. The only problem is that the outfit is cursed and it won’t come off. He begins to turn into a monstrous clown.
Clowns are genuinely terrifying, but with a added curse makes it horror movie magic. It’s a scary and gruesome film that will surely itch that Clown fix.
