Things Every Girl Should Know How To Do

You’re never really taught about how to be a woman, and there is no definitive guide to being one. There are, however, things that every girl should know how to do. Things that are vital to survival and important. If you want a quick rundown, listen to our podcast here.

Here are 5 things that every girl should know how to do.

HOW TO CHECK YOUR BOOBS

GIRLS IRL previously wrote on how to check your boobs if you are unsure, but it’s something that needs to be known. It’s scary that 1 in 8 will get breast cancer at some point in their lives and early diagnosis is the key to a good recovery.

HOW TO GET AWAY FROM A BAD RELATIONSHIP

Either friendship or romantic relationship, it’s important to know how to get out of a bad relationship. If you feel trapped or anxious, it’s important for safety to get out. Surrounding yourself with loving and supportive people is crucial. If you are walking away from an abusive relationship, try organisations like the National Domestic Violence Freephone Helpline, Women’s Aid or Refuge

HOW AND WHEN TO ASK FOR A PAY RISE

If you deserve a pay rise, you should be entitled to ask for a pay rise. The main thing to consider are timing, giving your boss fair warming and delivering a business of why the rise will benefit the company. Be prepared for every possible scenario your boss could say to not give you your pay rise, and raise a counter argument.

HOW TO SAY NO

It’s easy to say yes and please everyone, but it’s important in learning how to say no. Taking on extra work or doing a new social plan is not always the best idea. If you are already overloaded, it’s going to affect your mental health. Stand your ground and prioritise yourself every now and again.

HOW TO LOVE YOURSELF

This is the most important one on the list, because it’s true that no relationship is more important that the one you have with yourself. Find out what makes you happy in life and don’t compromise for anyone. Put yourself first and make no apologies for sticking up for what you believe in. Learn to love yourself and the rest will come afterwards.
