It’s no shame to admit you are feeling anxious – and it often gets the better of you. Your mind is tainted by these horrible thoughts and it can honestly make you feel awful. Professional help from doctors is the way to go if you think you need that but there are alternative things you can do to feel better.
Here are 5 things that could help you when you feel anxious.
GOING OUTSIDE
With lockdown and being trapped inside for the past year or so, many forget that you are allowed outside. Being stuck indoors all the time is not good for your mental health and fresh air will do you good. Walking outside, or running if you feel up to it, can release endorphins that make you happy – plus you’ll be able to see a bigger world.
CLEANING
If going outside is too daunting, then maybe stay in. Clean or organise something in your house that you’ve wanted too. Wanted to rearrange your DVDs or just have a clear out? Do this and it’ll make you feel so much better. A clean house is a clean mind.
CREATIVITY
Okay, so you’ve cleaned and gone outside – still no? Try doing something creative such as drawing something or creating a video. It could be the littlest thing but do something with a finished product that shows off your talents. In the end, you’ll hopefully forget about your anxieties and be at peace for a little while
BLOG
Now is the time to write about your feelings and insecurities. Journal on paper or write an anonymous blog post in which you describe your emotions. After you write it all down and think it through, perhaps you’ll realise something. If not, it’s always good to let out your emotions.
BINGE
If all else fails, binge your favourite TV or film and just relax. Catch up on that show you’ve always wanted too and just take it easy. The medium of TV is a great way to escape and forget about your troubles for a bit.
My anxiety is always a rollercoaster but these are a few steps that always make me feel so much better. Hopefully, they’ll help you too.
